9. Almost Being Banned From Canada…
Prior to performing at a Toronto concert in late 2000, Eminem was almost banned from Canada entirely. Ontario Attorney General Jim Flaherty listened to the song “Kill You,” which prompted him to try and bar the rapper from entering the country.
“I personally don’t want anyone coming to Canada who will come here and advocate violence against women,” Flaherty said. Given the lyrics of the song include lines such as “You think I won’t choke no whore / ‘Til the vocal cords don’t work in her throat no more?”, it’s understandable to understand where Flaherty came from.
The ban didn’t last and the rapper performed at the concert without issue.
