4. Professing Violence Towards Women
In addition to graphic homophobia, Eminem’s lyrics don’t shy away from abusing women. In the song “Guilty Conscience,” Slim Shady tells a man who caught his wife cheating to “cut this b****’s head off.”
This line is clearly influenced by an incident in Mathers’s own history. In 2000, the rapper assaulted a man outside of a Hard Rock Cafe for kissing his then-wife, Kim. Eminem received two years of probation.
