One of the best things that have ever embraced mankind – Youtube of course – has turned 10 years old today; and what a wonderful 10 years it has been. Seriously, does anyone even remember the time when Youtube wasn’t a thing? What the heck did we do with our time? Actually, what was internet used for before 2005?
All jokes aside, Youtube is certainly a privilege. Apart from its entertainment aspect, it has helped thousands of businesses get the wide audience that was once only possible unless you were financially backed. The best part; Youtube provided the stage (and still continues to) for absolutely free. Apart from helping get recognition, many have even went on to become multi-millionaires.
Personally, there are two favorite aspects I love about Youtube – besides all the cute animal stuff. The fact that I can get news from various different (Youtube) channels really helps me get a perspective other than the one mainstream news regurgitates. Also, the amount of various types music I have been exposed to due this service really makes living in 21st century a fun time.
We have posted the first ever Youtube video below; it was posted on the site by the co-founder Jawed Karim and is titled “Me at the zoo.” It is just a mere 18 second clip and does not offer much of intrigue but it surely symbolizes the beginning of something iconic.
Happy Birthday Youtube!
