In 2005, Crowe got arrested for assaulting a concierge in a hotel; the original charges were felony assault and illegal possession of a weapon (this would have voided his American visa and put him in prison for 7 years). However, he was conditionally discharged by the judge and has publically shown remorse for his actions – he even gifted a large sum of money to the hotel worker.
