4. Ellen’s Comedy Brought Her Success
It wasn’t acting that brought Ellen to fame and fortune; it was her stand up comedy. In 1980, she summoned up her courage and began to perform in small comedy clubs. In 1981, she was invited to be an MC at Clyde’s Comedy Club in New Orleans. In 1982, she was the “Funniest Person in America” as nominated by Showtime.
