One of the best things that has happened to the Catholic Church in modern times is the election of Jorge Mario Bergoglio as the Pope. He has taken the command of the position like a champion. The fact that he is even appreciated by many non-believers sets a great statement. One of my favorite things about him is that his Popemobile isn’t covered with bulletproof glass, not only does it show that he doesn’t want to be hidden away, but it also shows his courage to step out and face the world and the fact he decided on using a non-bulletproof car so he could greet people personally is just awesome. Is it dangerous? Of course! However, doing so allows for his plans of setting an example of living with humility go over tenfold higher.
To add to his beautiful, quirky and real character, he graciously accepted a pizza from a crowd member while riding through the Amalfi Coast. Enzo Cacialli climbed over the barricade and hand-delivered a pie to Pope Francis and instead of getting attacked by security, his gift was kindly received – which of course left Cacialli thrilled beyond belief.
