This is by far one of the best reactions we’ve ever seen. 100-year-old Ruby Holt spent her whole life rural Tennessee on a farm picking cotton and raising her children. She never had the time or money to see the ocean, but all this changed just shy of her 101st birthday.
Thanks to Ruby’s assisted living center and an organization that grants wishes to the elderly, she was able to make the trip to the Gulf of Mexico and experience the ocean for the first time in her very long life. “I’ve heard people talk about it and how wonderful it was and wanted to see it, but I never had the opportunity to do so,” Ruby said.
The 400 mile trip to the Gulf Coast in Alabama was the furthest Ruby had ever been from her home in Tennessee. She couldn’t have summed up the experience better “we don’t have anything like this in Giles County”, said Ruby. This just goes to prove you’re never to old to do something new.
