In northern India, a 5-month-old puppy fell into hot tar that was spilled around a construction site, it took 4 long hours but rescuers were eventually able to get him out. Claire Abrams from the animal welfare group, Animal Aid Unlimited, says staff from the charity rushed to the scene in the city of Udaipur, Rajasthan after they received a phone call from an onlooker.
The poor puppy was found lying motionless, his body stuck to the ground from the tar. “There was no way he could have come out of his own, without any intervention,” said Claire. The rescuers spent the next 4 hours applying vegetable oil to help loosen the tar. They took their time and just kept working at it. Eventually, the crew was able to pull the dog out of the sticky liquid before taking him to the animal shelter for an examination. It took over two days to remove all the tar from the puppy’s body.
Abrams described the dog’s first night at the shelter as rough, “he was petrified and breathing heavily.” The dog has since fully recovered and has been vaccinated! He is a happy normal puppy whit a long life ahead of him.
