From 1960s to mid-1970s, the U.S. made some of the toughest and meanest cars that became known as muscle cars. These monsters are not only stylish, but fast and loud. As epic as these cars are, they didn’t make the cut as an everyday American family vehicle because of high gas prices and the fact that these cars were giving a mind numbing mileage between 9-15 mpg.
What defines a muscle car? Unfortunately there is no one characteristic, but you know one when you see one. For those who have been lucky to own one of these or any other muscle cars, please tell us your favorite thing about being a part of one of these pieces of American history.
#10 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
Firebird was Pontiac’s answer to the Pony muscle cars. It shared the same platform as the Camaros; the Firebirds and the Camaros have always had similar features. The best performing engine from this car produced 345 HP and reached 0-60 in 5.6 seconds.
