It takes James Robertson over 8 hours each day to commute to-and-from work and most of it is on foot. Each day James commutes over 21 miles from Detroit to a nearby suburb to go to work. That is what we call amazing dedication. Each morning James starts off his commute by taking public transportation near his home then finishes the journey to the factory he works, with a 7 mile walk, regardless of the weather. At the end of his shift each night (usually around 10 P.M.), he again walks back the 7 miles to catch the last bus to take him into Detroit, and then from there he walks another 5 miles home. Everyone has been impressed with James’ story. His amazing dedication and almost unheard of work ethic make him a truly special man. He also has a perfect attendance record at his job, even with all the walking required each day.
Because of this amazing story that aired about Mr. Robertson’s arduous commute some fantastic people have decided to Pay it Forward and created a fund to help James purchase a car. Evan Leedy, a student at Detroit’s Wayne State University, set up an online fundraiser account to help James with the cost of buying a car. So far its raised over $140,000, amazing considering the goal was only $5,000. Stories can have a happy ending!
