3. Priming For Public Service
In 1963, Clapper graduated with a political science degree from the University of Maryland. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps before deciding the Air Force was a better fit. Following in his father’s footsteps, Clapper was assigned to signals intelligence for a few 73 missions in an EC-47 during the Vietnam War. He decided education was an important step for his life in #4.
