Step #1 Attack

Step #2 Cruise
Now, you begin to alternate protein with vegetables. You go back and forth between the two. There’s no calories or carbs to count. Just eat whatever strikes your fancy. Dukan claims the back and forth process burns tons of calories. Remain in this stage until your target weight is reached, about five days for every pound you want to shed.

Step #3 Consolation
This is where things start to get better. You can start to add bread, fruit, and cheese back into your daily diet, along with two servings of carbs, and two “celebration” meals a week. But keep in mind, only in moderation! That means one portion of fruit and cheese, and two slices of bread, not three grilled cheese sandwiches a day. For each pound you’ve already lost, you have to stick to this step for five days. So, a ten pound weight loss means fifty days. It may seem torturous, but there is a reason behind the it. Dukan believes that most people reintroduce high-carb, and high-fat food into their diet way too fast. Acclimating your body slowly will keep you from gaining all the pounds you’ve shed.

Step #4 Stabilization
Now that you’ve lost all the weight that you wanted to, and kept it off, you can go back to eating whatever you want (as long as it’s healthy, of course), without thinking about it. There’s only one exception. Once a week, you return to the Attack phase.

Compared to a lot of diets that require you to count carbs, calories, or weigh food, the Dukan diet is pretty simple. So, if you’re looking to lose weight fast, and nothing else has worked, this could be a great option. It sure worked for Princess Kate!
