We all know celebrities can be a little crazy; over-the-top demands, excessive spending, and drunken behavior that would embarrass a frat boy. Alas D-list Amanda Bynes is just the latest celeb in a slew of them to go off the deep end. If you don’t know what she’s actually famous for, you wouldn’t be alone. Bynes starred in a few Nickelodeon shows before going on to act in few movies before deciding to give it all up to become a rapper. Can we say red flag? In any case, Bynes was recently placed under psychiatric care at a local L.A. hospital after burning items in someone’s driveway and running around sans pants. Good times. 1. Britney Spears
She may have been America’s sweetheart but after she broke up with Justin Timberlake it all went downhill. She married Kevin Federline in 2004, popped out 2 kids, and then divorced Federline. When she lost custody of her sons, she infamously shaved her head and went ballistic on a paparazzo’s car hitting it with an umbrella… All in front of who else, the paparazzi.
2. Martin Lawrence
Back in the late 90s, Martin Lawrence ran out onto Ventura Blvd in L.A. brandishing a gun and threatening random passerby. Supposedly he had been taking drugs and exhibiting erratic behavior on the set of his latest movie, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. He was later arrested for gun possession, went to rehab, and was accused of sexually harassing his “Martin” co-star Tisha Campbell.
3. Lindsay Lohan
No list of loco celebs would be complete without America’s favorite train wreck. Lindsay Lohan is nothing if not consistent in her madness. She started out cute and sweet as a pair of identical 12-year old twins in The Parent Trap. But as she got older trouble seemed to stick to her like gum on a shoe. She racked up multiple DUIs, a probation violation, and felony grand theft. Unfortunately she’s now known more for her legal troubles than her acting.
4. Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson used to be one of the foxiest stars in Hollywood. From Mad Max to William Wallace he made women melt. Unfortunately he has since become known as a sexist and racist. His anti-Semitic outbursts to officers arresting him for a DUI made the tabloid rounds. He also threatened his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva and hurled racial epithets at her. He’s apologized but his reputation will be forever tarnished.
5. David Hasselhoff
Alcoholism is a messy business. And for celebs it’s even worse with their every move splashed in the public. In a 2007 video shot by his daughters, a drunk Hasselhoff is shown shoving food in his mouth while slumped on the floor. Even more embarrassing, his daughters are heard pleading for him not to get drunk. He replied that he drinks because he is lonely.
