Sinkholes are a scary phenomenon and something that you simply cannot prepare for.
The video posted above comes from Brazil – it shows how a sinkhole swallows an entire passenger bus and then the bus gets swept away by the river. The description reads, “the accident occurred in the northern state of Para near the cities of Itaituba and Rurópolis.” It also stated that all the passengers were able to escape the bus before the bus went in completely and therefore none were hurt.
Believe it or not, sinkholes happen in United States too – residents of Florida will testify to this claim. Sinkholes occur mainly in the south/south eastern states. Luckily, the death rates are fairly low considering how devastating the event really is. Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not take any damage claims that occur because of sinkholes.
Scientists are currently working on figuring out the root causes of the sinkholes in hopes of preventing any loss of life is existing developments and improved surveying of land for future constructions.
